Inserting an Image into your webpage

An image can be placed anywhere on your web page.  But before you can insert the image, you need to IMPORT it to your webspace.  In other words, you need to copy the image to the computer where your webspace exists, before you can place it into your pages. Let us insert a picture into the table we created.

For the sake of this example, we will save an image from the web to our computer and then import the image to our webspace.

Go to the example page by clicking here.

Right-click on any image on the page and choose the "Save Picture As.." option.  Save the image to a spot on your computer's hard drive (and remember where you saved it)

Step one:

Now back in FrontPage, select the images folder in your core101 folder by clicking on it.  Next, from the File menu, choose Import.

Step two:

Click the Add File button.

Step three:

Browse to the image file that you just saved and then click the Open button.

Step four:

Click the OK button.

Step five:

If the new image was not placed in your images folder, in the Folder List window you should drag the image into the images folder within your course folder.

Step six:

Now that the image is in your webspace, you can insert it into your web page.  Place your cursor into the large cell on the right.  From the INSERT menu, select PICTURE>FROM FILE, and browse to the image that you want to insert.

The desired result:

Save the file and view it in a browser.

Resize the image. The image is probably too large, so click on it an you should see small black squares in each corner of the image. With your mouse, click inside one of those squares and drag toward the center of the image. Stop dragging when the image fits inside the cell.

Image for Step Thirteen

  Save the page.
Now let us add the text. Click on the image to select it and then press the right-arrow key on your keyboard. You should see the cursor blinking along the right side of the image. Press the return key on the keyboard to bring you to the next line. Type the content in the next four lines as in the sample. (Great Works, Great Writers, Biographies, Bibliographies)

Save the file and name it "writers.html"
View the file in a browser.
