Description

If you have created PowerPoint slide shows for your classes or for presentation to your colleagues, you can post them to the web for preview or review.  There are three methods to achieve this goal-

  1. Import the PowerPoint file to your website

  2. Save the presentation as an html file

  3. Save the presentation as a pdf file

Possible Uses with Instruction Sheets

  • Method One- Import the PP presentation to your web space.  (Instructions- FrontPage |  GoLive  |  Blackboard)

    Note- your audience must have either PowerPoint or a freely downloadable PowerPoint Viewer installed on their computer.

  • Method Two- Save your PP presentation as an html file and import to your web space.  See example

    Note- your audience does not need PowerPoint to view.

  • Method Three- Save your PP presentation as a pdf file and import to your web space.

    • Step One- convert the file to pdf format
      (Instructions for MacintoshWindows)

    • Step Two-  upload the file to the web server
      (Instructions- FrontPage |  GoLive  |  Blackboard)

Resources Required

  • Microsoft PowerPoint software

  • If posting to Blackboard, you will need access to add content to a Blackboard Course site

  • If posting to a website you will need authoring privileges to a web server.  There are two primary Colgate web servers where a faculty members can save course and personal web pages-

    • http://people.colgate.edu

    • Click here to apply for authoring privileges to a web

  • If creating pdf files, you will need Adobe Acrobat Full Version software.  Contact your ITS TSA, or CEL to order a copy of Acrobat.

Success Stories

  • Roger Rowlett's Chemistry 371 course.  Roger has created a class web site where he has made available PowerPoint presentations that he used in class lectures.  The students use these presentations as review.  Click to view.
